Our Services
Skin testing for allergies is used to identify which the substances are causing your allergy symptoms. It is often performed by pricking the skin with an allergen and then checking for a skin reaction. We offer allergy skin testing for outdoor and indoor allergens, penicillin and other drugs, foods, and venom when indicated.
Allergen immunotherapy injections or “allergy shots” are prescribed for patients with allergic rhinitis (hay fever), allergic asthma or life threatening reactions to insect stings. Allergy shots contain a standardardized amount substances you are allergic to. The allergy shot strength and volume are slowly increased over time to “reeducate” the immune system to become tolerant to that substance. Traditional allergy shots can take 3-5 years to permanentaly cure allergies.
All desensitization procedures begin with a build-up or escalation phase, whereby the dose of allergen is steadily increased to achieve a target maintenance dose. Traditional allergen immunotherapy escalation schedules involve 20 weeks of weekly injections to achieve the maintenance dose. A cluster allergen immunotherapy protocol reduces the escalation phase by 50% (from 20 weeks to 10 weeks) by giving “clusters” of injections during the first 5 weeks of escalation therapy.
Common drug allergies include reactions to penicillin, sulfa drugs, aspirin, anesthetic agents like lidocaine, and pain medications such as ibuprofen or naproxen. If you suspect you might have an allergy to one of these medications or would like to find out if you have “outgrown” an allergy, these tests might be helpful.
Our physicians have an on-site ultrasound machine for joint injections. Ultrasound allows a physician to see inside the joint before and during an injection and ensures that the injection is given in a precise location.
In Office Administration of Biologic Therapies Our office provides cutting edge therapies for immunological conditions such as Xolair injections for Asthma and Urticaira, Prolia injections for Osteoporosis, Stelara injections for psoriatic arthritis, Cimzia injections for Rheumatoid arthritis and more.
